About Cornerstone
General
Cornerstone Bible Fellowship was established in 1983. We have no denominational affiliation. We place primary emphasis on the inerrant Word of God as the final authority in all matters of faith and practice, and as the central focus of church life.
Cornerstone is currently located in Arkansas on the border of North Little Rock and Sherwood, two adjoining cities separated from Little Rock by the Arkansas River. The combined population of these two cities is approximately 90,000. The Little Rock Air Force Base is just to the north of Sherwood. Along with several other surrounding communities, the population of the North Little Rock metro area is approximately 150,000.
Currently, attendance at Cornerstone averages 750 persons each weekend. The membership of Cornerstone is drawn primarily from North Little Rock and Sherwood. We also have a regional membership that stretches from Little Rock (across the river) to Cabot (18 miles to the north). In addition, over the years we have enjoyed a significant membership of officers and enlisted men and women from Little Rock Air Force Base.
Leadership
We are led by elders, of whom some are staff elders and some non-staff elders. Our elders participate not only in decision-making, but also more importantly in the ministry of the Word, prayer, and shepherding. We have a team of deacons who attend to the practical issues of church life.
Church Life
We are committed to the core ministries of corporate worship and small groups. Our worship services are characterized by congregational involvement through singing, Scripture reading, and prayer. We strive toward authentic, biblical worship in forms that are appropriate for a contemporary audience, including a worship team & a praise band.
The strength of Cornerstone in past years has been in our relationships with each other. Our small group ministry is key to this strength. We have realized a participation rate of over 70% in our small groups.
Our Learning Center and AWANA programs serve to assist our parents in instruction and discipleship of their children. Other ministries include our youth ministry, men's and women's ministries, and various service teams organized around the spiritual gifts and interests of our congregation.
Missions
Our mission focus is an integral part of the life of Cornerstone. Over 10% of receipts are directed toward mission endeavors. These funds are divided among foreign, national, and local endeavors. Some of our local work includes ministries to international students and to inner-city neighborhoods. We encourage mission involvement and awareness in the body through involvement in the local mission work and through short-term summer missions. Two to three teams are sent out to short term work each summer.
Youth Ministries
We have made a commitment to excellence in our ministry to our young people. Our youth ministry, led by the youth pastor and a adult ministry team, challenges our youth to a life of discipleship. We present our youth with a balance of the study of Scripture, activities and trips, and hands-on ministry. Our youth participate in local mission work and summer mission projects.
Facilities
Cornerstone is located at 7351 Warden Road in Sherwood, the corner of Warden and Lantrip. Our location is central to our area of ministry and on Highway 67/167, Central Arkansas’s main northeast artery from Little Rock toward North Little Rock, Sherwood, Jacksonville and Cabot, our primary membership cities. This campus includes all of our facilities except our youth facility which is located just across Lantrip at 101 Hunter Cove, a short walk away. In total we have approximately 34,000 square feet under roof and approximately five acres to our west for expansion in addition to our substantial parking lots. The sanctuary seats up to 625. We have numerous children classrooms for our children’s ministry from infants to fifth grade. Sixth through twelfth graders are a part of Cutting Edge, our student ministry. Additionally, our campus houses meeting rooms and our administrative center.
