HomeTeams & PurposeTeams

What is a HomeTeam?
HomeTeams are the primary small group discipleship ministry of Cornerstone. They meet weekly in members' homes and are led by a leader couple and an apprentice couple. Their primary purposes are relational discipleship, spiritual growth, and mutual accountability. HomeTeams are generally "open" in that they allow and encourage new members to come into the group on a regular basis.

What is a PurposeTeam?
PurposeTeams are small discipleship groups organized around a specific spiritual purpose and may be short term or long term groups. PurposeTeams are led by CBF members who have specific training and spiritual giftedness in the area of the groups focus. Exaples of PurposeTeams are recovery groups, financial training groups, leadership training groups, or specific issue groups. Membership to these groups are limited and the groups tend to be "closed" in that they typically don't allow new members after the group has begun due to the nature of the topic and group format.

Why are HomeTeams important?
We must grow larger and smaller at the same time. A church with so many members cannot possibly rely on paid staff members to effectively meet all of the needs of the entire church. It is biblical and vital that churches enlist and enable members to do this work. We are called to live the Christian life with the support of others. Members helping once another is Christ's plan for the church.
